Duration: Allow the solution to remain in the canal for approximately 1-2 minutes to effectively dissolve the smear layer and soften dentine. Rinse: Flush the canal thoroughly with saline or distilled water after using EDTA to remove debris and residual solution. Repeat: If necessary, reapply the EDTA solution during the preparation to ensure optimal smear layer removal. Final Irrigation: Complete the irrigation protocol with a disinfectant solution such as sodium hypochlorite before proceeding to obturation.
